Job description

LifeWise high school teachers will demonstrate in-depth Bible knowledge and outstanding teaching abilities for students in grades 9-12. The ideal candidate is an active church member with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who is caring, committed and proficient in teaching.

Responsibilities

1. Complete the LifeWise Teacher Certification Course prior to teaching
2. Participate in the annual LifeWise Summit each year
3. Attend at least one Teachers' Lounge and one LifeWise Meet-Up per year
4. Stay up to date on training and updates by regularly checking LifeWise email
5. Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans using only the LifeWise curriculum
6. Invest in building relationships with students and praying for them regularly
7. Create and maintain a safe, organized and stimulating classroom environment through various teaching techniques and discipline that is redemptive in nature
8. Prioritize student engagement
9. Maintain accurate student attendance records
10. Distribute accurate and timely assessments to meet secondary education requirements
11. Maintain accurate class rosters including health concerns, special needs of students and photo permission as noted on parent permission slips
12. Prepare adequate lesson plans, information and materials for a substitute teacher
13. Establish a culture that fosters academic pursuits and a love of learning as a means to promote spiritual growth
14. Maintain a clean, attractive, age-appropriate and well-ordered classroom
15. Know the procedures for handling emergency situations
16. Purchase classroom supplies as needed using the funds provided by the program director
17. Act as a LifeWise ambassador within the community
18. Attend events as available or requested by the program director
19. Maintain ongoing dialogue with school personnel to stay apprised of class schedule changes and ensure student well-being
20. Build relationships with volunteers and keep them apprised of schedule changes
21. Submit regular updates, stories and photos to the program director
22. Promote and communicate LifeWise's religious mission in all duties and interactions, ensuring alignment with the organization's core values and beliefs
