Job summary

Stratford Y is seeking dedicated Lifeguards to join our team in Stratford, CT. As a Lifeguard, you will help maintain a safe, welcoming aquatic environment and uphold YMCA standards for all participants.

Responsibilities include monitoring swim conditions, enforcing policies, responding to emergencies, conducting safety checks, and promoting YMCA programs while engaging with members and visitors. A flexible schedule including evenings and weekends is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16 years old.
• Lifeguard Certification (YMCA, Red Cross, or equivalent) required.
• Must hold and maintain CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications.
• Ability to pass a swimming and physical skills test upon hire and annually.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Physically capable of prolonged periods in the water and lifting up to 25 pounds.

• Engage with members and promote YMCA aquatic programs and services.
• Attend all mandatory meetings and training sessions to maintain skill proficiency.
• Serve as an ambassador for the YMCA, fostering a supportive and inclusive community.
