Job summary

The City of Great Falls is seeking a Lifeguard to ensure the safety of pool patrons at the Scheels Aim High Big Sky Aquatic and Recreation Center. The role works under the Aquatics Coordinator and supervisory staff, opening/closing the natatorium, enforcing rules, and responding to emergencies with CPR/AED and first aid as needed.

Applicants should be at least 16 years old, possess or obtain a lifeguard certificate, and have CPR/PR, AED, oxygen, and first aid certifications; CPO/WSI/LGI are

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Must possess or obtain Lifeguard Certificate.
• Must be certified or able to obtain CPR/PR, AED, oxygen, and first aid certifications.
• CPO, WSI, and LGI certifications are preferred.
• Ability to enforce pool regulations while conducting classes; maintain safety.

Responsibilities

• Open or close natatorium following ARC-compliant checklists.
• Enforce policies to maintain a safe swimming environment; warn patrons of hazards.
• Respond to emergencies; administer first aid, CPR or AED as needed.
• Contact EMS for serious injuries and report to supervisors immediately.
• Assist in cleaning and maintenance of equipment and facility.
• Complete Lifeguard checklists and daily records (rescues, first aid, weather, sanitation).
• Perform occasional pool cleaning and maintenance (vacuuming, drains).
• Test pool water chemistry; maintain water cleanliness with proper chemicals.
• Report facility or equipment failures to the on-duty supervisor.
• Participate in rotation schedule; perform other duties as assigned.
