Qualifications

• American Red Cross lifeguard certification; YMCA lifeguard or other certifications may be accepted.
• At least 2 years of High School Education; must be at least age 16.
• Need First Aid, CPR, AED certifications.
• Knowledge of basic rescue technique and excellent swimming skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor pool activity and ensure safety practices.
• Assist members with swimming and fitness goals.
• Maintain cleanliness of pool areas.
• Communicate with management regarding safety concerns.

Location:

• GE Fitness, 2411 Glendale Milford Rd, Evendale, OH 45241

Work Schedule:

• Optional/as needed: Hours/shifts depend on needs, will discuss!
• Shifts are between 3-5.5 hours each.
• Also rotates working Saturdays 2x/month: 745a-1p.
• Closed Sundays. No holidays.

Job Requirements:

• American Red Cross lifeguard certification; YMCA lifeguard or other certifications may be accepted.
• If your certification has expired, we can discuss ways to get renewed.
• At least 2 years High School Education.
• Must be at least age 16+, ages 16-17 requires work permit.
• Need First Aid, CPR, AED.
• Knowledge and demonstration of basic rescue technique and Excellent swimming skills including ability to swim 300 meters using the 5 basic strokes.
• Experience as lifeguard preferred but newly certified or interested, considered.
• This position is responsible to monitor pool activity and facilitate safe and appropriate pool practices, to rescue/assist those in need and provide instruction to participants, to maintain a clean pool environment. Team participation and member interaction are also important!

Job Responsibilities:

• Creates a positive work environment and establishes relationships with key patients/customers, physicians, departments, and staff. This may be demonstrated by flexibility in scheduling and willingness to work 'extra,' unscheduled shift assignments, or assuming alternate location assignments.
• Effectively manages the use of people, time, materials, and financial resources and the extent of involvement in community and organizational events of a spiritual and social accountability nature.
• Promote safety of pool area, needed rescue/prevention of accidents and injuries. Informs management of safety hazards as they may arise. Communicates with management staff regarding problems and concerns of members and participates in record keeping of the department.
• Picks up extra time to meet department needs. Changes assignments if needed.
• Creates a positive work environment, regularly assists coworkers, gives positive feedback when appropriate, and acts as a mentor to new employees/students.
• Actively motivates and assists members with their swimming proficiency and overall fitness goals. Maintains order by aiding members in appropriate lane selection. Lifeguard is responsible for adding lanes depending on the number of participants for water fitness classes.
• Actively maintains clean pool areas by performing the following as needed: scrubbing pool scum line, hosing pool decks, wiping down pool ladders and drinking fountains, and keeping drains free of debris.
