Job summary

The City of Allen seeks a qualified lifeguard to ensure the safety of customers at City aquatic facilities. Responsibilities include lifeguard supervision, in-water rescues, first aid, and CPR as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and less than one year of relevant work experience.
• American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (Including Deep Water) with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid Certification.
• American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification or the ability to obtain within six months of hire.
• Certified Pool Operator License or ability to obtain within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Ensure customer safety by visually scanning aquatic facilities, performing in-water rescues and giving first aid as needed.
• Provide lifeguard training by conducting in-service sessions and teaching according to Red Cross policies.
• Oversee lifeguards by assigning locations, calculating work/rest, and responding to concerns.
• Provide customer service support, answer inquiries, and explain facility rules.
• Manage pool chemicals, check inventory, add chemicals, and ensure safety of water.
