Job summary

Willamalane Park and Recreation District is seeking a Lifeguard I to monitor swimmer safety and respond to emergencies. The role requires vigilance, quick decision-making, and strong guest-service skills in a busy aquatic environment.

This is a part-time, non-exempt, non-benefitted position with year-round hours up to 19.75 per week. Candidates must have American Red Cross Lifeguard certification and be able to obtain CPR/AED/Bloodborne pathogen training within two months of hire.

Qualifications

• Lifeguarding knowledge and safety protocols.
• CPR/AED/First Aid and emergency assessment.
• Ability to interpret policies and work with guests and staff.

Responsibilities

• Vigilantly monitor swimmer and guest safety in assigned areas.
• Perform rescues and administer emergency care as trained.
• Maintain communication with Aquatics leadership and respond to shifts and schedule updates.
• Encourage guest compliance with pool rules and assist guests and coworkers.
• Respond to inquiries about programs, policies, and procedures.
• Perform light custodial duties around the facility as needed.
• Participate in trainings and apply skills in daily operations.
• Adhere to supervisory directions and strive for continual learning.
