Asheville Jewish Community Center in Asheville, NC is seeking dedicated Lifeguards to maintain a safe aquatic environment and provide excellent service to members and guests. Lifeguards will be cross‑trained to assist with basic front desk operations when needed.
Responsibilities include monitoring activity, performing rescues, enforcing rules, testing pool chemicals, and supporting event rentals. Must hold American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certification and be comfortable
FLSA Classification: Full Time, non-exempt
Pay Rate (hourly): $14.00/hr (30-40 hours p/week)
Expected Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7am-2/3pm

In addition to lifeguarding responsibilities, Lifeguards are cross-trained to assist with basic front desk operations when needed.
Actively monitor and maintain constant vigilance over swimmer and member activity
Perform rescues and respond to emergencies as necessary
Enforce all pool safety rules using whistle and voice
Clear the pool during thunder or lightning
Prevent unsafe behaviors such as diving in shallow water or horseplay
Provide excellent customer service to members and guests
Respond to questions and concerns in a friendly and helpful manner
Test and record pool chemicals
Clean and organize:
Emergency equipment
Pool equipment
Bathrooms
Pool deck and furniture
Pool grounds
Sell concessions
Assist party and pool renters during events
Cross-trained as an assistant swim lesson instructor
Cross-trained to support the front desk , including:
Monitoring and opening the front entrance
Answering the phone
Checking in members
Follow all emergency, safety, and security procedures
