Job summary

Woodside-Kc is seeking a vigilant Lifeguard to ensure the safety of all members and guests at the pool. You will monitor swimmers, enforce rules, perform first aid/CPR, and respond rapidly to emergencies while maintaining a professional environment.

On stand you will continuously scan areas, manage equipment, log chemical checks, assist with pool setup/teardown for events, and support pool staff with towel service and cleaning duties.

Qualifications

• Must hold valid Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification.
• Minimum age 15 by February 1 of each year.
• Attend required in-service dates and training.
• Able to communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Maintain continuous surveillance of pool users and enforce safety rules.
• Respond to emergencies with appropriate first aid/CPR until EMS arrival.
• Open/close pool per checklists and perform chemical checks and adjustments as directed.
• Assist with pool setup/teardown for events and maintain pool area cleanliness.
• Coordinate with pool staff and provide towel service and equipment checks.

Under the general direction of the Director of Facilities, the Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of all members/guests of Woodside by properly assessing the pool areas and acting quickly when responding to emergencies. The Lifeguard works diligently to uphold and enforce all policies set forth by Woodside. Responsible for maintaining a good working relationship with all pool staff and members.Duties / ResponsibilitiesWhile on StandMaintains continuous surveillance of all members / guests in the poolMonitors all swimmers and pool participants to ensure that all follow safety protocols and rules of the poolContinuously scans the pool and surrounding areas for potential hazards and take proactive steps to help avoid accidentsReadily responds to drownings or injuries by providing appropriate first aid and/or CPR care and treatment aa needed until emergency medical services arrive to takeoverWhile Off StandActs and responds as needed to any incident or injury and provides accurate documentation as requiredWalks and commands the pool deck – even when not on stand, always aware of activitiesChecks safety of rescue tubes, buoys and equipment; reports needed maintenanceOpens and closes the pool per procedural checklistsPerforms consistent pool chemical checks to ensure safety and hygieneWith direction of Director of Facilities adds chemicals to the poolMaintains accurate records of pool use and chemical levelsSkims, brushes and vacuums pools as neededPerforms regular bathroom checks a minimum of every 30 minutes to ensure that they are clean, supplied and in good working orderRequired to assist in teardown and setup of all pool furniture as needed for swim meets, special events, and any other activitiesProvides additional assistance to Pool Utility staff by clearing used towel and refreshing supply of clean towelsRefills water containers when empty; clear dishes and trash accumulation in all pool areasEnsures that all pool equipment is stored safely and that any lost & found items are kept in a secure locationEnforces pool and pool area rules and regulations to ensure a safe and professional environment for all members and staffMaintains cleanliness of pool office area and related storage closetsMay at times be asked to support special events within ClubMoves throughout the shift with purpose; no personal cell phone usage during shiftComplies with Club’s employee handbook manual, departmental policies and procedures and with all applicable federal and state employmentAny combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge is qualifying.
