Job summary

The City of Strongsville’s aquatics facility seeks a vigilant lifeguard dedicated to safety and public welfare. You will enforce pool rules, respond to emergencies, and provide first aid as needed.

You must be able to swim 300 yards and retrieve a 10 lb brick from 13 feet, hold current lifeguard certification (American Red Cross or equivalent), and assist with cleaning and maintenance of the center.

Qualifications

  • Current lifeguard certification from American Red Cross or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform lifeguard duties and safety monitoring.
  • Proficiency in CPR and use of AED.
  • Ability to rescue swimmers in distress and administer first aid.

Job description

  • Responsible for the safety and welfare of all persons using the facility.
  • Enforce all pool rules and the regulations governing the conduct of persons in the aquatics center in a friendly manner.
  • Rescue swimmers in distress or active drowning, and administers first aid in the event of injury.
  • Ability to administer first aid, including CPR and use of AED if necessary.
  • Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of the aquatics center.
  • Assist with the vacuuming of the pools.
  • Check equipment for safety and report any concerns.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Aquatics Supervisor and Head Guards.
  • Maintain the ability to swim 300 yards front crawl and/or breaststroke and retrieve a 10 lb. brick from depth of 13feet.
  • Must hold a Current Lifeguard Certification from the American Red Cross or other accepted training organization.
