Job summary

YMCA of Bay County is seeking a Lifeguard to maintain safe swimming conditions, supervise pool areas, and promote a welcoming, safety-focused environment for members and participants.

The role requires Red Cross Lifeguard certification, CPR/AED and First Aid for Professional Rescuer certifications, and the ability to work independently with energy and enthusiasm. 16+ years old. Free YMCA household membership included.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16.
• Red Cross Lifeguard Certification required.
• CPR/AED and First Aid for Professional Rescuer Certifications required.
• Ability to work independently with energy and enthusiasm.
• Ability to positively interact with the general public.

Responsibilities

• Maintain constant active surveillance of the pool area and patrons.
• Review emergency procedures and respond immediately to ensure patron safety.
• Provide emergency care and treatment until EMS arrives.
• Apply pool and aquatic area safety rules and guidelines consistently.
• Keep accurate safety records as required by YMCA and health codes.
• Present a professional appearance and high customer service standards.
• Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Maintains safeswimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas.Creates a safe and positive atmosphere thatwelcomes and respects allindividualsandpromotes safetyin accordance withYMCA policies and procedures.Builds positive relationships with members and program participantsthrough effectivelistening and verbal skillsandcreatively finds waysto connect them to one anotherand the Y community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Maintainsconstantactivesurveillance of the pool areaand patrons in the facility
• Knowsandreviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situationsimmediatelyto secure safety of patronsin accordance withYMCA policiesandprocedures
• Provides emergency care and treatment asrequireduntil the arrival of emergency medical services
• Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies,and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area
• Maintainsaccuraterecords as required by the YMCA and/or the statehealth departmentcode
• Presents professional appearance and attitude at all timesandmaintainshigh standard of customer service
• Attendsall staff meetings andin-servicetraining
• Performs other duties as assigned
