Job summary

Cypress-Fairbanks ISD seeks a dedicated Special Education teacher to provide learning activities and experiences for students, develop and modify curricula, and prepare lessons aligned with student abilities. The role encompasses self-contained, team, departmental, or itinerant capacities as assigned, with emphasis on IEP-driven instruction and collaboration with families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate that matches the content area and grade level of the assignment AND
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments
• Knowledge of special needs of students in assigned area.
• IEP goal setting and meeting process and implementation
• Knowledge of how to adapt curriculum and instruction for special needs
• Effective communication skills

Responsibilities

• Attend regular and reliable attendance is essential.
• Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop IEPs for each student assigned.
• Implement instructional/therapeutic programs and show written evidence of preparation as required.
• Assess student learning styles and plan using appropriate instructional strategies and materials.
• Present subject matter per IEP guidelines and use varied techniques and media including technology.
• Modify regular curricula as needed and assist special education students in regular classes.
• Participate in IEP Committee meetings and selection of books and media.
• Direct the work of instructional aide(s) if assigned.
