Job summary

Travis MS in Irving, TX, is seeking a Special Education LIFE Teacher for the 26-27 school year. The role reports to the Principal and follows the Teacher Salary Schedule (187 days).

You will develop and modify curricula, prepare lessons, and participate in ARD/IEP processes to support students’ intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Required: Bachelor's degree and Texas teaching certificate; strong knowledge of special education and collaboration with families and staff to foster

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Valid Texas Teacher's Certificate with appropriate endorsement for teaching area.
• Ability to develop IEPs and participate in ARD processes.
• Knowledge of curriculum and special needs of students.
• Familiarity with relevant district/state policies and practices.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with parents and staff in the development of IEPs.
• Develop and implement social and academic programs according to IEPs.
• Prepare for classes assigned and show evidence of preparation.
• Consistently assess student progress and modify classroom environment as needed.
• Provide or supervise personal care or medical tasks per IEP when required.
• Create a safe, positive classroom environment conducive to learning.
