Job summary

Gensler's Boston office is seeking a Design Manager to join the Sciences team and lead projects in life sciences space planning and design. You will manage and guide project teams, coordinate with clients and scientists, and drive delivery on multiple lab projects from programming through post-occupancy.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in Architecture with 5+ years in science facilities, biology or biotech settings.
• Experience with programming, planning, design and construction of science labs.
• Knowledge of lab planning, documents, cost monitoring, and construction administration.
• Experience leading programming for science facilities with end-users is a plus.
• Active participation in professional science organizations is a plus.
• Licensed architect and LEED accreditation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead project teams in the Sciences Practice Area and manage delivery.
• Develop laboratory planning strategies for new and renovated labs.
• Provide leadership to clients and teams on project objectives, scope and schedule.
• Coordinate with scientists, end-users, and sub-consultants during design and delivery.
• Provide SME leadership on design and construction strategies for life science projects.
• Prepare proposals and negotiate contracts and fees, manage budgets and staffing.
• Support sustainable, safe and flexible lab design aligned with goals.
