WithumSmith+Brown PC in San Francisco is seeking a Life Sciences Audit Senior to lead engagements from planning through completion. You will supervise staff, mentor juniors, and build strong client relationships in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• CPA license or pursuing CPA certification required.
• At least 2 years of public accounting experience with leadership of multiple engagements.
• Excellent analytical, technical and auditing skills including familiarity with US GAAP.
• Exceptional client service and communication skills with ability to develop and maintain client relationships.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and projects in a fast-paced team environment.
• Strong leadership, training and mentoring skills; excellent verbal, written and presentation abilities.
• Ability to travel as needed.

Withum’s Auditing and Attest Engagement services are the cornerstone of our firm. This Life Sciences Audit Senior role will be based out of our San Francisco, CA office. You'll work alongside an integrated team of seasoned CPAs and industry leaders. In this position, you will take a lead role on all aspects of audit engagements, from planning to completion, including supervision/mentoring of staff and building/maintaining relationships with clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead the engagement team staff on planning and execution of audit, review or compilation engagements to provide world‑class client service.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the audit engagement, including staffing, planning, risk assessment, fieldwork, financial reporting and the conclusion.
• Provide supervision and support to engagement staff and promote open communication with the engagement manager and partner.
• Collaborate with managers and partners on client issue resolution and make recommendations for any legal, regulatory and accounting issues that arise during an audit engagement.
• Review scheduled and non‑scheduled general ledger accounts for accurate entries.
• Manage multiple engagements concurrently with various teams to efficiently meet client deadlines.
• Create and track engagement budgets to review for inefficiencies that may arise during the audit.
• Conduct constructive discussions with team members on their evaluations and provide counsel accordingly.
• Serve in professional development programs as an instructor or discussion leader.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Licensed CPA or working toward CPA certification.
• At least 2 years of public accounting experience, with experience leading multiple engagements and supervising staff.
• Excellent analytical, technical and auditing skills, including familiarity with US GAAP.
• Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing projects in a rapidly growing, fast‑paced, interactive, results‑based team environment.
• Strong leadership, training and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and project‑management skills with strong attention to detail.
• Proven innovative problem‑solving skill.
• Ability to travel as needed.

Compensation & Benefits

The compensation in San Francisco for this position ranges from $95,000 to $125,000. In addition to the base compensation, Withum offers a competitive benefits package and bonus program (for eligible roles) based on individual and firm performance.
