Job summary

Stanford University is seeking a Life Science Research Professional 1 to perform defined research activities and independently conduct experiments related to protein engineering for infectious diseases. You will work under general guidance from the PI and senior lab members to support projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in mammalian cell culture, including routine maintenance, passaging, and handling of cell lines under BSL-2 conditions.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform and interpret the results from pseudovirus neutralization assays and ELISA.
  • Experience with standard molecular biology techniques, such as PCR and plasmid preparation.
  • Experience with quantitative data analysis and visualization with GraphPad Prism and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to maintain accurate experimental records and complete defined tasks with appropriate independence and timely escalation.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.

Responsibilities

  • Independently conduct pseudovirus neutralization and ELISA experiments; maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes.
  • Maintain and passage mammalian cell culture under BSL-2 conditions.
  • Perform molecular biology experiments, including cloning and plasmid preparation.
  • Plan approach to experiments in support of research projects in lab and/or field based on knowledge of scientific theory.
  • Apply the theories and methods of a life science discipline to interpret and perform analyses of experiment results; offer suggestions regarding modifications to procedures and protocols in collaboration with senior researcher.
  • Review literature on an ongoing basis to remain current with new procedures and apply learnings to related research.
  • Contribute to publication of findings as needed. Participate in the preparation of written documents, including procedures, presentations, and proposals.
  • Help with general lab maintenance as needed and provide general lab support as needed.
  • Other duties may also be assigned.
