Job summary

Fieldstone Communities is seeking a Driver to support resident outings and coordinate transportation at our Silverdale facility. You will drive a community van, assist with passenger comfort, and maintain records of trips with a patient, caring attitude toward residents.

Requirements include a valid driver’s license, First Aid/CPR, and prior experience with seniors. The role requires flexibility for weekends/holidays and a focus on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1-2 years driving a community van/bus.
  • 1 year of experience working with seniors preferred.
  • Criminal background and fingerprint check required.
  • Valid State driver’s license and driver safety training.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Must be kind, patient, and compassionate with residents.
  • Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
  • Must lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in resident outings and drives community transportation vehicle.
  • Regulates heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort.
  • Inspects vehicle; checks gas, oil, and water before departure.
  • Loads and unloads resident baggage; secures wheelchairs during trips.
  • Keeps the vehicle clean and organized inside and out.
  • Maintains trip records and reports any maintenance needs.
  • Maintains a professional and caring attitude toward residents.
  • Attends required meetings and trainings and stays current on duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Driver helps create a joyful and vibrant experience for our residents by supervising and coordinating transportation to and from activities and community-related events and by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Participates in resident outings.
  • Drives community transportation vehicle safely for resident outings.
  • Regulates heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort.
  • Complies with local traffic regulations.
  • Inspects vehicle; checks gas, oil, and water before departure.
  • Keeps the vehicle clean and organized inside and out at all times.
  • Reports and documents any items in need of repair or service.
  • Loads and unloads resident baggage.
  • Secures passengers’ wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during trip.
  • Cleans and services vehicle with fuel, lubricants, and accessories.
  • Keeps records of trips and behavior of passengers.
  • Maintains a professional and caring attitude toward residents. Must be kind and very patient.
  • Knows all documentation procedures and how to use emergency log.
  • Prompt and diligent in coming to work.
  • Attends and participates in required meetings and trainings. Stays current on system assigned tasks and duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • A high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience driving a community van/bus.
  • 1 year of experience in working with seniors preferred.
  • NAC, HCA or NAR (exemption documentation required) preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Current First Aid and CPR.
  • Must pass a criminal background and fingerprint check.
  • Valid State driver’s license and participate in driver safety training.
  • Has compassion and a special interest in working with the senior population.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays to meet the requirements of the position.
  • Ability to relate positively and communicate appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other employees.
  • Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Competitive Compensation Program - Actual pay rate will be calculated based on relevant years of experience and education/certification requirements.

  • Shift coverage bonus offered as needed
  • Sick time accrues at 0.025 hours for every hour worked, available for use after 90-days
  • Paid time off accrual eligibility at 12 months starting at 0.0326 hours PTO accrued for every hour worked
  • Floating Holiday: 0.04 hours accrued for every hour worked, up to 56 hours annually to be taken on the days most important to you, eligible upon hire
  • Time worked on the following holidays is paid at 1.5 times your normal hourly pay: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas
  • Up to 3 days Bereavement Leave
  • Traditional and Roth 401(k) after 12 months and 1000 hours worked, semi-annual enrollment, with annual employer discretionary contribution
