Job summary

Delaney at the Vale in Woburn, MA seeks a Director of Life Enrichment to lead a dedicated team delivering social, educational, and recreational programs for residents.

The role requires a degree in recreational therapy or Activity Director Certification, 3+ years in senior living or event programming, and strong leadership and communication skills. Proficiency with MS Office is expected in a vibrant, resident-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or higher in recreational therapy or Activity Director Certification.
• Minimum three years in senior living and/or event programming.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• At least three years leading a team.
• Proficient with MS Word, Outlook, Excel and similar office tools.

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates, and directs a wide scope of social, educational, and recreational activities for residents.
• Coordinates transportation for events and ensures resident safety during trips.
• Manages Activities department including Transportation.
• Interviews and supervises contract personnel for events and functions.
• Creates monthly calendars and distributes information about events and programs.
• Develops newsletters and a master calendar of events.
• Maintains department budget records and monitors costs with explanations for variances.
• Startup and coordination of Resident Committees and Interest Groups.
• Conducts resident orientations and coordinates with Marketing for smooth transitions.

Who you are:

• Degree in recreational therapy and/or Activity Director Certification preferred.
• Three years' experience in senior living and/or event planning and programming.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Three years' experience leading a team.
• Must be proficient with computer, MS-Word, Outlook, Excel, and other office equipment.

The Director of Life Enrichment is responsible for planning, coordinating and directing a wide and varied scope of activities and programming which meet the social, educational and recreational (religious) needs of the resident population. The Director of Life Enrichment ensures activities are provided that enhance the quality of life for all independent living residents.

What you will do:

• Plans, coordinates, and directs a wide scope of social, educational, and recreational activities with the intent of including all residents in some area of activity.
• Responsible for the coordination of transportation to events and programs when necessary, including bus transportation and other vehicle transportation. Ensures the safety and well-being of all residents during events and trips.
• Manages Activities departments to include Transportation.
• Interviews, selects, supervises, monitors, and serves as the community liaison for all contract personnel for entertainment personnel and for all Resident Functions and Activities. Reviews, monitors and approves contracts/agreements for all external/contracted personnel.
• Plans, organizes, posts and/or distributes information and material regarding events, programs, activities, etc., including monthly calendars.
• Develops, plans, coordinates and creates Newsletters for the Community as well as master calendar of events. This may include Transportation, Activities, Wellness and General Information.
• Maintains appropriate records pertaining to the department budget. Monitors and controls cost expenditures, providing justifications/explanations for variances as appropriate.
• Responsible for the startup and coordination of Resident Committees and Resident Interest Groups.
• Conducts an orientation for all new residents and interacts with Director of Marketing to ensure smooth transition to the community.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Encourages residents to take an active part in the community and recreational programs.
• Assists residents in determining the level and quantity of activity.
• Prepares and maintains required reports, records, studies and surveys.
• Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
• Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
• Coordinates services with other departments and involves other departments in activities as applicable to include Food and Beverage departments for events and functions.
