Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Life Claims Analyst to work remotely nationwide. You will review and adjudicate Life insurance claims, communicate updates within ERISA standards, and ensure accurate payments or referrals for validation. Training is provided virtually from home during the initial period.

The role is full-time (40 hours/week) with flexible 8-hour shifts between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm EST, occasional overtime, and a comprehensive benefits package upon eligibility.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in Customer Service, including analyzing and solving issues for policyholders and employers
  • 2+ years of end-to-end life insurance claims processing experience, including claims review and benefit release
  • Proficiency with computer and Windows applications; ability to learn new systems
  • Full-time availability (40 hours/week) with 8-hour shifts during EST business hours; overtime may be required

  • Maintain appropriate communication within ERISA standards during review and investigation
  • Respond to inquiries related to Life claims within service timeframes
  • Provide accurate claim decisions in line with policy, state, and federal guidelines

As a Life Claims Analyst you will be responsible for providing expertise or general claims support to teams in reviewing, researching, investigating, negotiating, processing and adjudicating Life claims. Authorizes the appropriate payment or refers claims to Team Lead or Manager for validation of adverse or over limit approvals.

This position is full-time (40 hours/week). Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 7:00 am - 6:00 pm EST. Core business hours are 9:00 am - 4:00 pm EST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.

We offer 2 - 3 months of paid training. The hours during training will be aligned with their schedule. Training will be conducted virtually from your home.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Review and render determinations on Life claims
  • Initiate and maintain appropriate level of communication within ERISA standards through the claim review and investigation process
  • Respond to all inquiries generated relative to Life claims within established service timeframe
  • Provide accurate claim decisions in accordance with Policy, State and Federal guidelines
  • Adjudicate Life claims with current average volumes of 50 claims weekly

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma / GED OR equivalent work experience
  • Must be 18 years of age OR Older
  • 2+ years of experience in Customer Service, including analyzing and problem-solving issues for policyholders, employers, for both internal and external customers
  • 2+ years of recent experience performing end to end life insurance claims processing, including claims review and benefit release
  • Proficiency with computer and Windows personal computer applications, which includes the ability to navigate and learn new and complex computer system applications
  • Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week). Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 7:00 am - 6:00 pm EST. Core business hours are 9:00 am - 4:00 pm EST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime
Preferred Qualifications:
  • OnBase claims processing system experience
Telecommuting Requirements:
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy.
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $49,700 to $88,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
