Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a security supervisor to oversee the actions of security staff and manage custody and control of inmates in a medium-security facility. You will assume primary responsibility for security of all buildings and public property, conduct routine unit checks, assist with inmate counts, and investigate complaints and disputes among inmates and staff.

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:

• A high school diploma and three (3) years experience in correctional, security, military, or police work to include one (1) year of supervisory experience.
• A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for supervisory experience year for year (associate and above = 1 year).
• Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
