Job summary

WGI is seeking a LiDAR Technician I with 0-3 years of experience to support our Geospatial team in multiple locations, including West Palm Beach, FL. You will assist with LiDAR field data collection, GPS/GNSS setup, and data management while working under supervision in a collaborative environment.

The role involves operating LiDAR equipment, coordinating with field crews, and ensuring safety and quality across projects. A related degree and readiness to travel are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics, GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Surveying, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred
  • Basic understanding of LiDAR, GPS/GNSS, remote sensing, and geospatial data concepts
  • Familiarity with point cloud processing workflows preferred
  • Experience with TopoDOT, RiPROCESS, POSPac, MicroStation, ArcGIS Pro, or similar software is a plus
  • Strong computer and technical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to learn new software and workflows quickly
  • Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel moderately for field assignments
  • Ability to work both outdoors and in an office environment

Responsibilities

  • Assist with mobile, static terrestrial, and UAS LiDAR field data collection operations
  • Operate and maintain LiDAR collection equipment and associated survey hardware
  • Assist with GPS/GNSS initialization, field calibration checks, and collection documentation
  • Support daily field operations including traffic awareness, equipment setup, and adherence to safety procedures
  • Download, organize, archive, and manage LiDAR and imagery datasets
  • Process raw LiDAR and trajectory data under supervision
  • Assist with point cloud classification, extraction, feature coding, and QA/QC reviews
  • Generate deliverables including point clouds, imagery, breaklines, and mapping products
  • Coordinate with field crews, project managers, and office technicians to meet project schedules
  • Troubleshoot field and office hardware/software issues with guidance from senior staff
  • Maintain project organization, naming conventions, and data management standards
  • Work individually and as part of a collaborative team environment

In this position,you will assist the Survey Project Manager in the execution of various public and private sector survey assignments. You will work with other technicians to complete small and large-scale projects.

Over the past several decades, WGI has delivered a variety of transportation projects including some of the largest and most complex interstate projects in the state of Florida. Preferred Certifications

  • ASPRS Certified Mapping Technician (CMT) – LiDAR
  • FAA Part 107 License
