Job summary

International SOS Government Medical Services is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to provide direct patient care in designated facilities such as Veterans Homes, correctional healthcare, or state hospitals. You will administer medications, monitor patients, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to support treatment planning.

The role offers full-time opportunities with shift options (12-hour day or night).

Qualifications

• Valid, active California license to practice as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• At least six months of direct patient care experience within the last 36 months in a public or private institution.
• At least six months of experience using electronic medication administration record (eMAR) and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
• Ability to meet California Code of Regulations Title 22 and Title 42 requirements.
• Ability to perform nursing procedures within scope of practice; observe and document patient symptoms; maintain records; and collaborate with the care team.
• Ability to function in emergency and stressful situations while adjusting priorities.

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide nursing care, including medications, therapies, injections, treatments, and disease-prevention measures.
• Take vital signs, monitor catheters/IVs, and adjust treatments and dressings as needed.
• Obtain specimens for diagnostics and perform routine labs.
• Monitor patient status and report findings to the primary provider or RN.
• Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and care plan development.
• Educate patients and document treatments and responses in the medical record.
• Follow established safety, infection-control, and universal-precaution rules.

Job Description

As a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), you'll provide direct patient care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and physician orders. You'll administer medications and treatments, monitor patient conditions, perform routine clinical procedures, maintain accurate patient records, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to support treatment planning and continuity of care.

Practice Setting: Veterans Home, Correctional Healthcare Facility, or State Hospital.

Employment Opportunities: Full-time, PRN, and 13-week assignments may be available based on program needs and contract requirements.

Contingency:This position is contingent upon contract award.

Schedule: 12-hour day or night shifts, 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide patient education and document treatments, nursing care, patient responses, and other required information in the medical record
• Follow established safety, infection-control, and universal-precaution requirements

• Ability to meet applicable requirements for performing medical duties in healthcare facilities under California Code of Regulations Title 22 and Title 42 of the United States Code of Federal Regulations
• Ability to perform nursing procedures within the applicable scope of practice; observe and document patient symptoms and behavior; maintain clinical records; and work effectively with patients and an interdisciplinary treatment team
• Ability to function effectively in emergency and stressful situations while adjusting priorities based on patient needs
