Job summary

Jewish Family and Children’s Services in San Francisco is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to lead the care team on a Sunday–Thursday shift from 3:00pm to 11:00pm. The role is full-time, non-exempt, with comprehensive benefits and opportunities for advancement.

The LVN will supervise care staff, oversee medication administration, and coordinate with physicians and families while ensuring compliance with Title 22 standards.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a current LVN or RN license and First Aid/CPR certifications.
  • 2 years of team leadership experience; senior facility experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee care staff and ensure adherence to standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct care personnel on the shift, ensuring adherence to professional care standards and Title 22 regulations.
  • Check-in with residents and care staff to ensure proper care is being provided.
  • Supervise medication administration, monitoring, and recording; provide one-on-one support if needed.
  • Maintain communication with physicians and families while ensuring confidentiality.
  • Report changes in residents' health to physicians and update care plans as needed.
  • Respond to emergencies; assess resident behavior and contact 911 when necessary.
  • Conduct health assessments, injections, wound care, and other LVN scope of practice.

Pay Range: $38.00 – $39.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Job Type: Full Time, Non-exempt with Benefits

Shift and Schedule: Sunday – Thursday (3:00pm – 11:00pm)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) certification or Registered Nurse (RN); First Aid Certification; and CPR certification
  • 2 years of experience leading a team preferred. Experience in senior facilities desired

What are the Qualifications?
  • Must undergo a Physical exam and Tuberculosis Screening, resulting in a negative TB diagnosis prior to employment
  • Must obtain clearance or exemption approval from the Department of Social Services following FBI and DOJ livescan background check prior to employment

What Will I Be Doing?
  • Oversee and direct care personnel on the shift, ensuring adherence to professional care standards and compliance with Title 22 regulations. Provide guidance and support to the care team and address challenging cases. At the direction of health services management, may make changes to the schedule and staff work assignments in case of absenteeism
  • Check-in with residents and care staff during shift to ensure that proper care is being given
  • Supervise the administration, monitoring, and recording of prescribed medications given to residents. Provide one‑on‑one support for medication administration if needed
  • Maintain regular communication with physicians and family members regarding changes in residents’ physical health or needs, ensuring confidentiality
  • Following up on reported changes on medication conditions, making assessments, and reporting any changes in behavior or medical conditions to physicians
  • The Charge Nurse will also respond to emergency calls, assess residents’ behavior, and contact 911 if necessary
  • Health assessment, Subcutaneous injections. Treat wounds and pressure injuries and other treatments and medications as needed within the scope of the LVN license
