Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Implement Health Services standards and policies per regulations.

• Document treatment responses and report changes to physicians and senior staff.
• Order, distribute, monitor, and record medications; evaluate effectiveness.
• Inventory, store and dispose of medications and supplies per policy.
• Admit, document, discharge residents and use HCS software.
• Maintain medical records per Social Services regulations.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident care information.
• Oversee direct nursing care by CNAs and supervise staff during shifts.
• Visit Assisted Living residents and perform daily floor rounds.

Location of Job: Covina, CA

Pay Range: $26.00 - $36.00/hour

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Adult/Health Services, Licensed Vocational Nurses are responsible for the comprehensive nursing care of all adult residents, ensuring their health, safety, and welfare at Masonic Homes of Covina.

Essential Functions

• Implement and maintain Health Services standards and objectives in accordance with Masonic Homes policies, procedures, and Dept. of Social Services regulations.
• Arrange, monitor and document medical care (including individual care and assessment plans) appropriate to the needs of the residents.
• Document resident’s response to treatment and report changes in condition to physician and Director of Senior Services.
• Order, distribute, monitor and record medications as necessary; evaluate effectiveness of medications and treatments.
• Responsible for the inventory, safe storage and/or disposal of all medications, medical supplies and equipment in accordance with applicable policies.
• Admit, document condition, discharge residents, and perform other functions using HCS software.
• Assess medical and psychological evaluations on prospective resident admissions.
• Maintain all required medical records in accordance with established Social Services regulations.
• Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information.
• Assign direct nursing care to be given by certified nursing assistants.
• Oversee restorative care and activities, train staff in routine tasks, oversee shift staff, and make recommendations regarding performance and discipline.
• Visit residents in Assisted Living and make floor rounds daily.
• Keep Director of Senior Services informed orally and in writing of any changes in a resident's condition.
• Attend scheduled staff, resident care, and in-service training meetings; assure that all required information is complete and available.
• Provide charge nurse coming on duty with concise and accurate reports and follow up on information and instructions given by charge nurse who is going off duty.
• Ensure residents’ rights (fair, equitable treatment, self‑determination, privacy, civil rights) are well established and maintained at all times; preserve dignity and self‑respect.

Marginal Functions

• Answer phones and monitor campus access gate.
• Administer and read TB tests; report employee TB test results to Human Resources.
• Conduct Hepatitis in‑service and administer Hepatitis B shots.
• Assess medical condition of child residents as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Training and experience in geriatric and restorative nursing preferred. Computer and keyboard skills required. Effective oral and written communication skills required.
