Provides required laboratory monitoring and medication education classes for consumers. Administers medications, immunizations, draws blood, provides treatments, and observes patients for unusual symptoms and reactions. Provides professional nursing expertise to center staff as needed. Travel will be required. HFC incorporates principles of trauma-informed care throughout the agency, emphasizing cultural sensitivity and a safe and respectful environment for all individuals served and staff. Your work location and hours could change based on program needs.## Qualifications**Education, Training, and Experience**Graduation from accredited school for Licensed Vocational Nurses. Licensed to practice as a licensed vocational nurse in the state of Texas. Preferred Qualifications: Two years’ experience working in a hospital or healthcare agency with individuals with mental illness. Must have current driver’s license and be insurable under Center insurance. Must pass and maintain all Center-mandated trainings.**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities*** Knowledge of nursing techniques and procedures; of health care laws and regulations; of medical diagnoses and procedures; of accepted medical treatment programs; and of community health and nursing care principles, practices, and procedures.* Ability to provide patient care, to prepare and maintain records, to explain public health laws, and to communicate effectively.* Ability to read and comprehend correspondence, memos, reports, medical information, physician’s orders and prescription labels.* Ability to count, add and subtract. Knowledge of fractions and calculate medication doses.* Ability to write memos, letters, staffing summary reports and medical information.* Ability to relate verbal instructions, communicate in a courteous and effective fashion with co-workers, consumers and families, agencies and the public.* Display a customer service orientation; at all times treating customers as equals and partners.* Skilled in the use of general office equipment and network computers and applicable software, such as: word processing, database, spreadsheet and office management software (Microsoft Office). Familiarity with SmartCare and CARE a plus.
