Job summary

Casa Pacifica Centers For Children & Family in Camarillo, CA, is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Practical Technician (LPT) to manage medications for youth and provide routine nursing care under the Health Clinic Manager. The role requires a valid LVN/LPT license, a compassionate approach, and experience with electronic health records such as Avatar.

Work hours are weekday afternoons, with ongoing training and collaboration with the Health Services Team.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2–3 years related work experience or training.
  • Avatar electronic health record experience a plus.
  • Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Our multi-disciplinary staff of highly trained clinicians, psychologists, educators, therapists and mental health workers provide exceptional, evidence-based care to help our youth overcome a wide array of mental health challenges.Casa Pacifica’s Camarillo, Goleta, and Santa Maria offices work with more than 2,000 at-risk children, families, and young adults annually in outpatient, residential, home, and community-based settings. A culture built on diversity, equity and inclusivity is essential to creating a safe and healing environment at Casa Pacifica.Starting pay is typically around $25.00 to $33.00 per hour; however, starting pay is ultimately determined by the scope of the position, the candidate's relevant experience, and internal equity.Weekday Shifts: Monday - Friday 1:30pm-10pmUnder the direction of the Health Clinic Manager, the LVN/LPT is responsible for medication management for the youth enrolled in Casa Pacifica Programs. The LVN/LPT also treats minor illness and/or injury according to standard orders and protocols.The Licensed Vocation Nurse carries out the mission of Casa Pacifica as it pertains to assisting in providing general care, effective hygiene, and day-to-day care for youth of Casa Pacifica.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (illustrated by typical activities):Cares for the residents and provides medical assistance to each youth.Administers medication to residents following prescribed ordersMaintains knowledge about psychotropic medications, their side effects, and contra-indications.Monitors side effects of all medications; communicates with other care givers regarding their observations.Notes orders, re-orders medication, and communicates with pharmacy regarding medication related issues.Educates youth regarding medication, side effects, desired effects, risk of non-compliance.Communicates clearly and in a timely manner with psychiatric providers regarding youth as needed.Identifies youth’s possible need for additional professional medical services, and refers to Community ProviderAttends and participates in unit and general staff training programs; attends outside training events and conferences as requested. Meets regularly with Health Services Team for rounds and/or departmental business.Documents all medication administration and nursing interventions using appropriate documentation system.Completes mental health billing in Avatar for STRTP youth.In an emergency, performs first aid and CPR, when necessary. Maintains confidentiality in all matters within the organization with respect to personnel, operations, medical histories and clients.Ensures annual client care minute goals are met.All mental health progress notes shall be completed, signed, and dated within seventy-two (72) hours of the service provided.Perform other duties as assigned and defined by the LVN/LPT Practice Act.QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:Position requires staff must be at least 21 years of age. Completed and cleared Live scan, criminal statement, health screening with TB test. Must undergo a one-hour training which reviews mandatory reporting requirements as per Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA). This training takes place during pre-service orientation training and periodically thereafter.Valid driver’s license is required for transporting youths. Any changes that occurs on your driving record must be reported immediately to your supervisor.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
