Job summary

fhsmc in Texas seeks a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) for a full-time float position. You will prepare and administer medications, monitor patient responses, and support physicians and RNs in a dynamic clinical setting.

The role requires a current LVN license, BLS certification, and at least two years of acute patient care experience. Flexible scheduling and a collaborative team culture are emphasized to provide quality patient care.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and administer prescribed medications (oral, topical, subcutaneous, IM/IV) per policies
  • Recognize urgent care situations and escalate to RN/MD/PA as directed
  • Provide supportive care to patients under RN/physician supervision
  • Record vital signs, measurements, IV starts, blood draws, and document findings
  • Transcribe triage notes into the medical record and ensure accuracy
  • Perform EKGs as ordered and report results promptly
  • Assist with assessments, exams, and treatments as directed
  • Document medication administration and monitor responses to therapies
  • Assist with daily living tasks (crutch walking, dressing changes) and other duties as needed

If you are passionate about making a difference and committed to enhancing patient well-being, we invite you to bring your skills and expertise to our organization.**Why Join Our Team*** Competitive pay with opportunities for growth* Flexible scheduling options* Supportive leadership and team-oriented culture* Meaningful role with direct patient impact* Training and advancement opportunities within healthcare operations**Key Responsibilities*** Prepare and administer prescribed medications (oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular and/or intravenous) and perform treatments according to established policies/procedures.* Recognize urgent or emergent patient care situations, seek assistance of the RN and/or MD/NP/PA and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as directed.* Provides supportive care to the patients under the direction of the registered nurse in charge and/or physician.* Performs patient skill sets such as taking height and weight measurements, vital signs, IV initiations, blood draws, and documenting as needed to assist the nurse and physician with patient care once they have completed a competency checklist.* Transcribes the triage documentation completed by the Registered Nurse into the medical record.* Performs Electrocardiograms as ordered and reports findings immediately to Attending Physician.* Applies proper techniques and practices while performing diagnostic testing using lab procedures.* Reports lab results immediately to Registered Nurse and/or Attending Physician.* Assists Registered Nurse and Attending Physician with assessments, examinations, and treatment for patients with predictable health care needs.* Delivers and appropriately documents the administration of by mouth medications. Monitor, document, and report responses to medications, treatments, and procedures and communicate the same to the nurse and/or physician clearly and accurately.* Performs other duties such as crutch walking, dressing changes and splint application.* Other duties as assigned.## QualificationsQualifications* Licensed Vocational Nurse* BLS* Two-year experience in an acute patient care setting
