Licensed Veterinary Technician - Westside Animal Emergency Clinic

PetVet Care Centers' Westside Animal Emergency Clinic in Lithia Springs, Georgia is seeking Licensed Veterinary Technicians to join our team.

Position Overview

As a licensed veterinary technician, you will support hospital operations by providing high‑quality patient care, assisting with surgeries, maintaining medical supplies and records, overseeing triage and discharges, and communicating with pet owners.

Key Responsibilities

• Determine animal requirements through examinations and interviews, review care plans, and conduct laboratory and diagnostic imaging tests.
• Collect samples, take vital signs, administer medications and vaccines, and bandage and wrap wounds.
• Assist during patient examinations and surgical operations by assembling supplies, restraining patients, and aiding veterinarians.
• Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, and equipment operation for excellent pet care.
• Obtain and verify medications; administer drugs and vaccines per SOPs.
• Ensure animals receive food and water, maintain clean rooms and cages, and monitor clinical signs.
• Prepare and administer medications, including controlled substances, with proper documentation and security.
• Maintain a safe, sanitary environment through instrument sterilization, disinfection, and storage of supplies.
• Document patient conditions, reactions, and changes promptly in the electronic database.
• Communicate patient status to owners as directed by the veterinarian.
• Maintain equipment, troubleshoot failures, perform preventive maintenance, and arrange repairs.
• Manage inventory, place orders, and verify receipts.
• Participate in continuing education and professional journal review.
• Release pets to owners, ensuring animals are clean and groomed.
• Execute oral and written directions and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications (Required)

• Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or Licensed Veterinary Medical Technician (LVMT).
• Prior experience in emergency/critical care settings.
• Proficient in IV catheter placement and venipuncture (jugular, cephalic, saphenous, femoral for cats).
• Experienced with triage, patient restraint, surgical prep, and anesthesia monitoring.
• Strong client communication skills.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

• Experience with V‑Tech practice‑management software.
• ER/ICU/Critical Care experience.
