Calera Animal Hospital in Calera, AL is seeking a Credentialed Veterinary Technician to support veterinarians in anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, laboratory testing, patient nursing, and client education, ensuring high-quality care and smooth client interactions.

The role includes prepping patients for procedures, taking histories and vital signs, performing lab work and radiographs, and collaborating with the team to deliver exceptional care.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed as a veterinary technician in the state of employment.
• Ability to lift patients and equipment up to 25 pounds, with assistance for heavier lifts.
• Maintain OSHA safety practices including proper PPE.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with MS Office applications.
• Strong communication to ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in clinical examinations, anesthesia, surgery and related tasks.
• Take histories, vital signs, and weights during outpatient exams and educate clients.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs intraoperatively.
• Collect and process samples and perform in-hospital lab tests; prepare specimens for outside labs.
• Obtain and develop radiographs and maintain safety procedures.
• Handle and restrain animals during exams; administer medications and vaccines as directed.
