Job summary

Dogwood Veterinary Specialty and Emergency - Dunwoody is seeking an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician to join the anesthesia team at our new Dunwoody hospital, opening in October 2026. The role supports advanced anesthesia services for specialty surgeries and complex patient care, with on-site duties and a hospital-based on-call schedule.

You will prepare patients for anesthesia, monitor during procedures and recovery, and collaborate with surgeons and clinical teams.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of veterinary clinical experience.
  • Experience in anesthesia, surgery, specialty, emergency, critical care, or high-volume practice.
  • Strong anesthesia induction, maintenance and recovery skills.
  • Experience with advanced anesthetic monitoring.
  • Confidence interpreting ECG, capnography, blood pressure and other parameters.
  • Experience managing CRIs and infusion pumps.
  • Experience with mechanical ventilation or other advanced patient-support modalities.
  • Strong understanding of analgesia and pain management.

Responsibilities

Dogwood Veterinary Specialty and Emergency is growing, and we're building our Anesthesia team at our new Dunwoody hospital.

We're seeking an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our anesthesia-focused team supporting advanced surgery, specialty procedures, and complex patient care at our new Dunwoody hospital, opening October 2026.

This opportunity will be based out of Dunwoody, with the schedule established by the hospital team throughout the interview process. The successful candidate must also be comfortable participating in the hospital's on-call schedule as determined by the team.

Make Anesthesia Your Specialty

As an Anesthesia Veterinary Technician, you'll play a key role in advanced anesthetic and analgesic care for specialty, surgical, and complex medical patients.

You'll have opportunities to:

  • Prepare patients for anesthesia, sedation, and advanced procedures
  • Assist with patient assessment and anesthetic planning
  • Perform anesthesia induction, intubation, maintenance, and recovery
  • Provide continuous advanced anesthetic monitoring
  • Monitor ECG, pulse oximetry, capnography, blood pressure, temperature, and other parameters
  • Manage and troubleshoot advanced anesthesia equipment and monitoring systems
  • Support patients requiring mechanical ventilation
  • Manage CRIs, infusion pumps, and other continuous therapies
  • Administer anesthetic, analgesic, and supportive medications under DVM direction
  • Support high-risk anesthesia cases and medically complex patients
  • Recognize and respond to changes in patient status during anesthesia
  • Provide multimodal pain management and postoperative analgesia
  • Recover anesthetized patients, including high-risk and specialty cases
  • Provide postoperative monitoring and nursing care
  • Maintain accurate anesthesia and treatment records
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, specialists, emergency clinicians, and nursing teams
What We're Looking For

This opportunity is designed for an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician who has a strong interest in advanced anesthesia, analgesia, and perioperative patient care.

You may be a great fit if you have:

  • 2+ years of veterinary clinical experience
  • Experience in anesthesia, surgery, specialty, emergency, critical care, or high-volume practice
  • Strong anesthesia induction, maintenance, and recovery skills
  • Experience with advanced anesthetic monitoring
  • Confidence interpreting ECG, capnography, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, and other patient parameters
  • Experience managing CRIs and infusion pumps
  • Experience with mechanical ventilation or other advanced patient-support modalities
  • Strong understanding of analgesia and pain management
  • Confidence caring for high-risk or medically complex patients
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Flexibility to work the set schedule established by the hospital team
  • Ability and willingness to participate in the hospital's on-call schedule

LVT credentials are required for this opportunity.

Advanced anesthesia experience, specialty anesthesia experience, ventilator experience, or a demonstrated interest in pursuing VTS Anesthesia and Analgesia is highly valued. RECOVER CPR certification is a plus.

This is an active specialty hospital environment. Team members should be comfortable:

  • Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching throughout the workday
  • Lifting and assisting with patients weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance when appropriate
  • Safely handling patients of varying sizes, temperaments, and medical conditions
  • Performing hands-on technical procedures requiring manual dexterity
  • Working in a fast-paced specialty and surgical environment
  • Maintaining close attention to patients and monitoring equipment for extended periods
  • Participating in an on-call schedule as determined by the hospital team

The role may involve exposure to animal dander, cleaning and disinfecting products, medical odors, blood and bodily fluids, anesthetic gases, and other conditions associated with veterinary patient care.
