Job description

Licensed Veterinary Technician — For Pet’s Sake Veterinary Center & Granville Veterinary Care

Glens Falls & Granville, NY | Full-Time

Tired of clinics that treat you like a cog?

We’re looking for a Licensed Veterinary Technician who wants more than a job — who wants a practice that actually feels like theirs. Two growing small-animal hospitals in the Adirondack foothills, one energetic team, and real room to build something with your name on it.

What makes this different:

Real independence. Bring your own protocols, your own style, your own ideas for how patient care should run — your expertise matters here, and we want a tech who leads with it.

Room to grow. Cross-train across surgery, dentistry, in-house diagnostics, and more. Want to specialize? We’ll help you get there.

Two clinics, one team. Work across FPS and GVC with dedicated surgical days and a schedule built for real work-life balance.

Competitive pay + benefits that reflect your license and your experience — not entry-level scraps.

A leadership team with 25+ years in the field, including deep community and law-enforcement partnerships on animal welfare — this is a practice that stands for something.

What we need from you:
  • Active NYS veterinary technician license
  • A genuine love of medicine and animals — and the leadership skills to make your mark on how care is delivered
  • Willingness to work across both locations as our schedule requires
Licensing & Education
  • Active/current Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) credential in New York State
  • Graduate of an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program
  • Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • DEA registration compliance knowledge (controlled substance handling)
Clinical Skills
  • Proficient in venipuncture and IV catheter placement across species/sizes
  • Anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery experience
  • Surgical assisting and sterile technique
  • Dental prophylaxis and dental radiography
  • In-house diagnostic testing (bloodwork, urinalysis, fecal exams, cytology)
  • Radiography (positioning, safety protocols, digital X-ray systems)
  • Medication calculation and administration (oral, injectable, topical)
  • Wound care, bandaging, and splinting
  • Laboratory sample collection and processing
  • Comfortable restraining/handling both routine and fractious patients
Client & Communication Skills
  • Strong client communication — discharge instructions, treatment plans, estimates
  • Ability to explain medical information clearly to non-medical clients
  • Compassionate handling of difficult conversations (euthanasia, poor prognosis, cost concerns)
  • Team communication — relaying accurate patient info between shifts/doctors
Administrative & Technical
  • Experience with veterinary practice management software (record-keeping, charting, billing)
  • Accurate and timely medical record documentation
  • Inventory awareness (tracking controlled substances, supplies)
  • Understanding of OSHA and biosafety protocols in a clinical setting
