Position Summary

The Lynchburg Humane Society (LHS) is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join our team. This unique opportunity allows you to tailor your role based on your professional interests:

Position Options & Responsibilities
Option 1: Spay/Neuter Clinic Focus

Work in our high-volume, high-quality spay/neuter clinic serving shelter pets and owned animals.

Responsibilities include:

  • Patient intake and pre-operative preparation
  • Venipuncture and catheter placement
  • Anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
  • Surgical assistance
  • Accurate anesthesia record keeping
  • Dental cleanings as needed
  • Post-operative care and client education
  • Maintaining sterile surgical environment and instrument care
  • This role is ideal for technicians who enjoy efficiency, anesthesia monitoring, and helping prevent pet overpopulation.
Option 2: Shelter Medicine Focus

Work directly with animals in our shelter environment, providing daily medical care and supporting lifesaving efforts.

Responsibilities include:

  • Daily medical treatments and medication administration
  • Vaccine administration and intake exams
  • Diagnostic sample collection and laboratory work
  • Monitoring and treatment of medical and surgical cases
  • Supporting humane care
  • Collaboration with all departments
  • Maintaining detailed medical records

Option 3: Combined Role
