Job summary

Pet Vet Family Pet Care Center in Kalamazoo seeks a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join our close-knit, community-focused team. You’ll assist veterinarians, perform triage, take histories, and help with exams, diagnostics, anesthesia, and dental care.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Veterinary Technician program (Associate Degree).
• Successful completion of the VTNE and current Michigan LVT license.
• Genuine passion for patient care and client education.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Professional demeanor with a team-first attitude.
• Prior experience in the veterinary field.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient triage and obtain accurate medical histories.
• Assist veterinarians during examinations, diagnostics, and surgical procedures.
• Induce, monitor, and recover patients under anesthesia.
• Perform dental cleanings, radiographs, and oral charting.
• Collect and process laboratory samples (blood, urine, fecal, cytology).
• Place IV catheters and administer medications, fluids, and treatments as prescribed.
• Take and develop diagnostic radiographs.
• Monitor hospitalized patients and provide nursing care.
• Educate clients on treatment plans, medications, nutrition, and preventative care.
• Maintain accurate and thorough medical records.
• Ensure proper sterilization of surgical instruments and maintain a clean clinical environment.
• Assist with inventory management and stocking of medical supplies.
• Follow all state regulations, hospital protocols, and safety standards.
