Job summary

NewDay Center is seeking a qualified mental health professional to assess and treat individuals, families and children with mental, emotional, or substance use disorders. The role includes individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, case management, client advocacy, prevention and education.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, monitor progress toward treatment goals, provide early interventions and referrals, and participate in supervision and program development.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, couples and family therapy as needed.
• Treat clients in outpatient program and assist with substance abuse, mental and physical illness, poverty, unemployment, or abuse.
• Perform comprehensive assessments for mental health, substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, domestic violence and medical needs.
• Collaborate with counselors, physicians, and nurses to plan and coordinate treatment.
• Monitor, evaluate, and record client progress toward treatment goals.
• Provide early interventions and referrals to specialty mental health services when needed.
• Refer patients to community resources for housing or treatment to aid recovery.
• Lead groups based on NewDay’s curriculum and beliefs.
• Assist with process groups and education groups at the Residential facility.
• Plan programs to prevent substance abuse and improve health and counseling services in the community.
• Develop or advise on social policy and assist in community development.
• Attend clinical meetings and weekly supervision.
• Other duties assigned by supervisor.
