Job summary

Jobot, a Tampa-based engineering and surveying firm, seeks a Florida Licensed Professional Surveyor & Mapper to lead transportation survey projects across the state. You will oversee planning, QA/QC, and final deliverables while mentoring crews and coordinating with engineers and agencies.

The role emphasizes compliance with FDOT standards, map reviews, and adoption of Mobile LiDAR and new geospatial tech to deliver accurate, timely results.

Qualifications

  • Active Florida Professional Surveyor & Mapper (PSM) license is required.
  • 0-5+ years of experience after licensure; all experience levels encouraged to apply.
  • Experience in transportation and roadway survey projects.
  • Familiarity with FDOT standards and survey requirements.
  • Experience reviewing plats, legal descriptions, boundary surveys, ROW mapping, and construction staking.
  • Knowledge of survey equipment, GPS, robotic total stations, and data collection technologies.
  • Mobile LiDAR experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience processing point cloud data a plus.
  • Familiarity with MicroStation, Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, Leica Cyclone, OpenRoads or similar software is beneficial.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Ability to coordinate with engineers, project managers, and public agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee transportation surveying projects from planning through final deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with Florida statutes, FDOT standards, and client specifications.
  • Review and certify survey documents and mapping products.
  • Mentor survey technicians and field crews.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams, project managers, and public agency clients.
  • Support Mobile LiDAR initiatives and emerging geospatial technologies.
  • Maintain project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Build lasting relationships with clients through exceptional service.

Position Overview:


We are seeking a Florida Licensed Professional Surveyor & Mapper (PSM) to support a growing transportation practice serving public infrastructure clients throughout Florida.


This role will oversee transportation survey projects, provide technical leadership, review survey deliverables, and ensure compliance with FDOT standards and Florida surveying regulations. Candidates with experience in Mobile LiDAR and modern geospatial technologies are highly preferred.

Salary: $115,000 - $160,000 per year

  • Project management and client interaction

  • Experience supporting large FDOT District projects
