Job summary

Atlantic Group is hiring Licensed School Counselors (LCSW/LMHC) in New York, NY to support students in school-based counseling and mental health settings for the current school year. Flexible placement across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island based on preference.

You will provide individual and group counseling, support IEP-aligned goals, and help students build the social, emotional, and behavioral skills needed to succeed in the classroom.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in School Counseling, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or related field.
• Active NY LCSW or LMHC licensure required.
• New York State School Counselor certification preferred.
• Experience in school-based counseling, student support, or behavioral health preferred.
• Strong communication, documentation, collaboration in a structured school setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling to students with social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs.
• Support IEP goals and intervention plans.
• Collaborate with school teams, providers, and families to support progress.
• Maintain counseling notes and required documentation per school requirements.

Job Overview – Licensed School Counselor (LCSW/LMHC)

Compensation: $68 – $76/hour

Atlantic Group is hiring Licensed School Counselors (LCSW/LMHC) in New York, NY to support students in school-based counseling and mental health settings for the current school year. This role offers flexible placement options across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island based on preference. You will provide individual and group counseling, support IEP-aligned goals, and help students build the social, emotional, and behavioral skills needed to succeed in the classroom.

Responsibilities as the Licensed School Counselor:

• Counseling Support: Provide individual and group counseling services to students with social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs.
• Student Development: Support students with coping skills, emotional regulation, peer relationships, and classroom readiness.
• IEP & Care Coordination: Collaborate with school teams, providers, and families to support IEP goals, intervention plans, and student progress.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate counseling notes, progress updates, and required documentation in alignment with school-based requirements.

Qualifications for the Licensed School Counselor:

• Education: Master’s degree in School Counseling, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or a related field is required.
• Licensure: Active New York State LCSW or LMHC is required.
• Certification: New York State School Counselor certification is preferred.
• Experience: Prior school-based counseling, student support, behavioral health, or mental health experience is preferred.
• Skills & Attributes: Demonstrates strong communication, documentation, collaboration, and the ability to support students in a structured school environment.
