Licensed Refrigeration Operator – Engineering Facilities – Mount Sinai Morningside – Full Time / Split Shift

Join to apply for the Licensed Refrigeration Operator – Engineering Facilities – Mount Sinai Morningside – Full Time / Split Shift role at Mount Sinai Health System.

Inspects, repairs, maintains and operates refrigeration and air conditioning equipment to determine that all are functioning properly.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain HVAC log while on watch, reflecting all changes in HVAC and air‑conditioning systems.
  • Adjust all systems to keep best efficiency and peak operation for all HVAC and refrigeration equipment, including flows, electrical, steam, etc., and support equipment such as air compressors and motor pumps.
  • Monitor changes in the outside environment, acting on or recommending changes concerning air‑conditioning and refrigeration units (e.g., starting, stopping).
  • Maintain the building automation systems, operating routine service, and making adjustments when needed.
  • Perform functions in the fire brigade, including responding with the fire brigade cart to all fires, drills, alarms, or calls relating to safety.
  • Assist the Stationary Engineer in the responsibilities of the Watch.
Qualifications
  • HS graduate or equivalent and an accredited associate degree in air‑conditioning technology.
  • At least one year experience as a Licensed Refrigeration Operator or three to five years as an assistant refrigeration operator. Must be able to troubleshoot controls and miscellaneous equipment. Must be knowledgeable in BMS computers.
  • Must possess a current, valid NYC Unlimited Tonnage Refrigeration and Air‑Conditioning License, CFC License, G95 for Cutting/Welding, F97 Standard/Sprinkler Fire Pump, and be working toward a G35 Air Compressor COF and Water Treatment for Cooling Tower.

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $44.51–$47.51 per hour. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
