Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania invites applications for a Licensed Psychologist Manager, Corrections at the State Institution (SCI) Smithfield. You will supervise staff, guide treatment plans, and ensure mental health services meet professional standards within a secure setting.

Job description

Do you want to make a meaningful impact by directing psychological services as a Licensed Psychologist Manager, Corrections with the Department of Corrections? This position places you at the center of clinical decision-making and mental health support at the State Institution (SCI) at Smithfield. You will oversee staff, guide treatment plans, and contribute to a stable environment where positive outcomes can grow. This position oversees psychological programs that support inmates through evaluation, treatment, and crisis response. The work ensures that mental health services remain consistent, effective, and aligned with professional standards. As a Licensed Psychologist Manager, Corrections, you will perform the following duties:

  • Staff Supervision: Guide the work of psychological staff, review evaluations, and support treatment planning
  • Program Management: Oversee psychological services programs, update procedures, and support policy development
  • Committee Leadership: Lead mental health committees and ensure proper review of inmate cases
  • Clinical Oversight: Review psychological tests, prepare diagnostic reports, and ensure accurate clinical assessments
  • Consultation Duties: Provide guidance to staff on treatment needs and support specialized unit programs
  • Legal and Accreditation: Testify as needed, ensure standards are met, and maintain compliance with accreditation requirements

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year as a Licensed Psychologist MH or Psychologist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of experience as a licensed professional psychologist in the treatment of inmates or individuals with mental illness, intellectual disabilities or behavioral dysfunction.
Special Requirements:
  • You must be in possession of a valid license to practice psychology as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Psychology or possession of a valid license to practice psychology as issued by another state with licensure requirements acceptable to the Board. Applicants with out-of-state licensure must obtain Pennsylvania licensure within one year of employment.
Other Requirements:
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
