Job summary

Vision Associates is seeking a Full-Time Dispensary Manager in the New York area to lead the optical shop, drive premium eyecare experiences, and manage daily operations including sales, inventory, and staff development.

You will supervise a team, coach staff, and ensure compliance with safety and company policies while maintaining exceptional patient care and service standards.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma/GED required.
  • Active state optical licensure; must maintain license.
  • Strong customer service and optical retail experience.
  • Knowledge of current optical theory and merchandise or ability to master in a short timeframe.
  • Familiarity with technology, such as point-of-sale, patient record systems, and other software applications.

Responsibilities

  • Leads a dispensary staff that will embrace a patient-centric approach to provide unsurpassed patient experiences.
  • Demonstrates superior product and process knowledge.
  • Conveys a commitment to providing unsurpassed patient care to every patient, every time.
  • Develops and maintains the Vision Associates business relationship with clients to achieve mutual goals while managing all facets of dispensary operations.
  • Leads the team through difficult or complex tasks through established coaching methods.
  • Inspires team building through individual development plans to promote an environment of personal growth and accountability while leading through effective performance management to ensure goals are consistently met or exceeded.
  • Anticipates problems before they occur and explores underlying reasons for recurring problems; goes beyond symptoms to get to root cause and strives to develop long-term solutions.
  • Supports the team in delivering key performance indicators.
  • Acts as a catalyst for change within the practice, supporting company initiatives including new technology, processes, and continual improvement.
  • Fosters positive working relationships with the practice doctors and clinical staff and acts as an advocate for Vision Associates.
  • Listens and responds promptly with an appropriate level of concern to all patients and practice issues.
  • Analyzes, solves, and corrects customer service issues.
  • Ensures all Company-approved safety programs are implemented and maintained.
  • Works weekends and evenings in support of the business needs (location varies).
  • Adheres to attendance and daily time-keeping requirements. Handles scheduling and coverage for the location.
  • Ensures staff training, coaching and development are utilized for every dispensary employee.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains proper dress code consistently.
  • Performs other functions as assigned by the supervisor or as business needs require.
  • Takes and records measurements, adjusts or fits eyewear correctly, thorough and exact in detail; ensures finished eyewear meets standards and patient requirements.

GENERAL FUNCTION

Support and develop the dispensary team, promoting and guaranteeing premium and professional eyecare experiences with every patient. Manage all facets of the dispensary, including but not limited to the daily operation of the optical shop, leading the optical team through changes, high level personal sales performance, expense and budgetary controls, and inventory controls. Ensure achievement of Vision Associates and practice goals in a single or multi-unit optical dispensary.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • HS diploma/GED
  • Active state optical licensure; must maintain license

  • Knowledge of current optical theory and merchandise or ability to master in a short timeframe
  • Familiarity with technology, such as point-of-sale, patient record systems, and other software applications
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, listening)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 1+ year supervisory experience in an eyecare environment
