Overview

NaphCare is hiring Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to join our team of medical professionals in Land O Lakes, Florida, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for individuals incarcerated in the Pasco County Detention Center.

As a Correctional Licensed Practical Nurse, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to residents. Working within a controlled environment focused on security, your duties will include performing physical assessments, administering medications, managing chronic illnesses, and responding to emergencies. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of a diverse patient population with complex medical needs.

Responsibilities

As an LPN, you will play a vital role in our mission to provide quality healthcare that respects the rights, dignity, and health of our patients. Your duties may include:

  • Performing patient assessments and interviewing patients about current health issues and medication history
  • Measuring vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and weight
  • Providing wound care, including cleaning and bandaging injuries
  • Administering medications, including injections, and monitoring reactions
  • Maintaining medical records, including electronic health records (TechCare)
  • Monitoring patient health and mental health status
  • Providing emergency first aid
  • Educating patients and planning discharges or releases
Qualifications

Education / Licenses / Certifications / Requirements

  • Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Active state certification as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
  • CPR certification
  • Successful completion of criminal background check and drug screening

Experience / Skills

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information
  • Integrity, professionalism, and adherence to a Code of Conduct
  • Compliance with correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements

Physical Capabilities:

Must be able to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, maintaining good balance and endurance throughout shifts.
