Job summary

SSM Health St. Clare Hospital - Fenton is seeking an LPN for our Surgery Clinic. The position offers a full-time daytime schedule (M-F) with no nights, weekends, or holidays. You will work under RN/physician direction to provide patient care within your licensed scope.

Responsibilities include medication administration, patient education, and assisting with laboratory tests and procedures. Requires MO LPN license and BLS; prior experience not required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.
  • Current LPN license in MO or a compact state.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to patient assessment and well-being.
  • Administers medications and monitors for adverse reactions.
  • Performs laboratory tests and therapeutic services.
  • Educates patients and families about treatment plans and post-discharge self-care.
  • Transcribes provider encounters and documents diagnoses, symptoms, and instructions.
  • Transcribes orders for labs, radiology, and medications; updates patient charts.
  • Maintains alertness and safe work practices.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Provides care to patients under the direction of a registered nurse or physician, functioning within the scope of license.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements
Primary Responsibilities
  • Contributes to the assessment of patients and ensures the well-being of patients.
  • Administers medications and observes patients for adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
  • Performs laboratory tests and therapeutic services.
  • Educates patients/families about disease treatment plan including self care post discharge, holistic health needs, available resources and follow up care.
  • May documents the provider's encounter with patients. Lists all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as discharge/follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as indicated by the provider.
  • May transcribes patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests and medications. Completes patient's charts by transcribing results of any labs, x-rays, or other evaluations. Continuously checks the progress of data availability for orders, to ensure the patient's workup is complete so that the provider is able to make treatment decisions regarding that patient.
  • May transcribes consultations or discussions with family and/or the patient's private physician or the on-call physician.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing

  • Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
  • Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting/moving of patients.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional driving.
  • Rare crawling and running.
Required Professional License And/Or Certifications
