Job summary

UPMC Muncy Place is seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work a 40-hour week on the 7AM - 7PM shift in Muncy, PA. Every other weekend and holiday rotation is required.

The LPN provides resident care under the direction of a Registered Nurse and within the Pennsylvania Practical Nurse Act, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to meet residents’ physical, medical, and psychosocial needs.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Establishes effective communication strategies with residents and families.
• Observes and records residents' symptoms, conditions, and reactions to treatments and reports to the RN.
• Delivers direct resident care including injections, vital signs, basic diagnostics, wound care, and IV therapy where permitted by policy.
• Participates in resident care conferences and collaborates with the interdisciplinary health care team.
• Maintains safety policies, infection control, and adherence to department procedures.
• Supports planning and prioritizing activities and responds to call lights and routine requests.

In this role, the LPN provides resident care under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) and within the scope of the Pennsylvania Practical Nurse Act. Working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, the LPN ensures that each resident’s physical, medical, and psychosocial needs are met.

UPMC offers a robust LPN Career Ladder, with final placement determined by education, experience, and manager discretion at the time of offer.

A generous sign‑on bonus is also available—$10,000 for LPNs with less than one year of experience and $12,500 for those with more than one year.

Responsibilities

• Establishes appropriate and effective communication strategies.


• Complies with all safety policies and procedures, including Infection Control Precautions.

• Prior to performing new or challenging skills, requests assistance and reviews relevant policies and procedures.


• Assists the RN and interdisciplinary team in evaluating, planning, and implementing plans of care.


• Suggests and supports changes within the department.


• Discusses any resident or family concerns with RN in charge, so that issues can be appropriately addressed.


• Provides appropriate, direct resident care. Gives injections, takes vital signs, performs basic diagnostic tests, observes residents, dresses wounds, administers medication. Provides IV therapy as permitted by practice act and policy.


• Contributes to the unit activities including, but not limited to, responding to call lights and telephones, passing meal trays and transporting residents.


• Takes action to improve knowledge, skills and performance based on feedback or from self-identified development needs.


• Oversees care given by Certified Nursing Assistants to ensure adequate and timely care is provided .


• Establishes professional and respectful interpersonal relationships.


• Identifies and communicates learning needs to the Unit Manager/Nursing Leader.
