Dept of Corrections - Dillwyn Center is seeking an LPN (PRN) to deliver nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role includes triage of sick calls, medication administration, and basic life support within a correctional setting.
Applicants must hold a Virginia LPN license and BLS certification, with flexibility to cover varying hours, days, and locations. This wage position has no state benefits and is limited to 1,500 hours per year.

LPNs provide evidence-based nursing care utilizing the nursing process, principles, practices and techniques of general nursing care as determined by Standards of Practice under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
Screens for sick call, administers medications, and provides first aid and basic life support to patients and employees as needed.
Maintains open lines of communication with security and treatment staff while providing input and feedback to assist the facility provider in organizing a treatment plan.
Records all pertinent information into the medical record. Interacts with other departments as needed.
Promotes continued competence through education/certification with a focus on correctional nursing.
Nurses must have the ability to work hours, days and locations as assigned along with being capable and available to provide coverage as needed to meet institutional needs.
Assignments to other duties or locations may be necessary to meet the clinical and administrative needs of the Department.
This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12 month period of May 1 – April 30, regardless of the hire date.
The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period.
This wage position offers no state benefits.
