Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the Albert Lea, MN clinic. You will provide nursing care under supervision, collect data, and collaborate with the RN and health care team to meet patient needs.

Applicants should hold a MN LPN license, maintain BLS, and have recent LPN experience; clinic shifts are 7 am–7 pm on weekdays with varying 8- and 12-hour schedules. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Student or Graduate of a Practical Nursing program, or passed LPN Boards after a defined period in a professional nursing program.
• One year LPN experience within the last five years is preferred.
• If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of LPN experience is required.
• Current MN LPN license and BLS for Health Care Providers are required.

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing care to assigned patients under supervision of the registered nurse (RN) or other assigned supervisor and accepts delegation from the RN/assigned supervisor in meeting the needs of the patient/family.
• Collects data through observation and communicates information to assist the RN and/or provider in patient assessment and care planning.
• Participates as a member of the health care team and accepts delegation from the RN/assigned supervisor and provider in meeting needs of the patient/family.
• Delivers care in accordance with the patient care plan, policies and procedures of the organization and principles of relationship-based care.
• Possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and instructing; and may participate on committees or projects, including quality improvement projects.

Student or Graduate of a Practical Nursing program, or passed LPN Boards after a defined period in a professional nursing program (e.g. some states allow RN students to take the LPN board exam after completing one to two years in the RN program).

Experience

If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of LPN experience working in an applicable setting is required.

One year LPN experience within the last five years is preferred.

Maintains BLS (Basic Life Support) for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs:

• American Heart Association
• American Red Cross
