Job summary

FMOL Health is seeking an LPN to join a clinic team in Baton Rouge, LA. The LPN will provide patient care under established standards, assist physicians and nurses, coordinate patient flow, and schedule procedures and referrals.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited LPN program.
• Proficient in English, verbal and written communication.
• Strong computer skills and familiarity with clinical software.
• Current Louisiana LPN license.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Observe, record and report patient condition and reactions to treatments.
• Instruct patient/family regarding procedures, medications, nutrition and wellness.
• Perform nursing duties including documenting history, vital signs, immunizations and allergies; prepare exam rooms and maintain supplies.
• Coordinate care: assist with scheduling, chart management, patient information and flow.
• Prepare exam room and assist during examinations, treatments and testing.
• Administer medications/treatments per nursing standards; may perform phlebotomy and EKGs.
• Observe and follow department and hospital policies, safety, quality assurance and infection control standards.
• Utilize equipment and resources to ensure efficient operations and high-quality care.
• Participate in quality improvement programs to foster compassionate care.

Responsibilities

• Patient Care:
• Observes, records and reports (to physician) patient's condition and reaction to drugs and/or treatments. Instructs patient/family regarding diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition and health/wellness issues.
• Performs selected nursing duties, including documenting patient history, vital signs, immunizations and allergies. Prepares, stocks and cleans exam room and maintains supplies and equipment for treatment.
• Coordination of Care:
• Provides complex and basic nursing care measures to all age groups. Assists physician with patient care, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks.
• Responsible for appointment and referral scheduling, chart management, providing information and instructions to patients, and coordinating patient flow.
• Prepares exam room and assists physician during examination, treatment and testing of patient.
• Quality:
• Administers prescribed medications/treatments in accordance with nursing standards. May perform phlebotomy and EKG's and assist with flex sigmoidoscopies.
• Observes and adheres to all departmental and hospital policies and procedures, and follows all safety, quality assurance, and infection control standards.
• Utilizes all equipment, supplies, facilities, and resources in a prudent and efficient manner in order to ensure efficient departmental operations and the provision of high-quality health care services.
• Observes and adheres to quality standards established by the department. Participates in continuous quality improvement programs in order to foster the provision of quality health care services by the department and hospital and ensures that all services are provided with compassion, understanding, and respect for others.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited LPN school
Proficient in English, verbal and written communication skills and computer skills
Current Louisiana State license as LPN and BLS certification.
