Job summary

The Meadows Psychiatric Center seeks a licensed practical nurse (LPN) for a part-time 3:00pm–11:30pm shift with rotating weekends in its 119-bed inpatient behavioral health facility near State College, PA. You will provide patient care on a unit under the direction of the Nurse Manager, administer medications, and participate in crisis response to ensure patient safety.

Qualifications

• Valid Pennsylvania LPN license (required).
• Interest in psychiatric nursing.
• On-the-job training and education provided for psychiatry.

The Meadows Psychiatric Center is a 119 bed inpatient behavioral health facility with numerous outpatient programs which span the entire continuum of care. The beautiful 52-acre rural campus is located minutes outside of State College in Central PA. The Meadows provides comprehensive care to children through adults.

Responsibilities

• The Licensed Practical Nurse is accountable for assigned nursing care activities on a shift basis and is responsible for promoting and enhancing professional nursing practice on the unit under the direction of the Nurse Manager or DON.
• The Licensed Practical Nurse facilitates medication administration activities in accordance with safe medication practices , including patient education
• The Licensed Practical Nurse responds to all crisis/emergency events to direct staff and ensure patient safety
• Responsible for communicating patient treatment response, emotional and behavioural changes, milieu dynamics and other pertinent information.
• Administers medication under the supervision of Charge RN.
• Contributes to ensuring the environment is safe for both patients and staff members through the use of safety rounds, patient flows, and milieu management techniques.
