Job summary

UPMC Department of Podiatry is seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team in New Castle and Hermitage, PA. This daylight, M-F position runs from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

and covers two office locations: 875 North Hermitage Road and 2008 West State Street. Responsibilities include drawing blood, administering medications, assisting physicians, taking vital signs, documenting care, and providing patient education while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing.
• One year clinical experience preferred.
• CPR required per AHA standards.

Job description

UPMC Department of Podiatry is hiring a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse, OP to join their team in New Castle and Hermitage, PA.

This is a Monday through Friday daylight position with the hours of 8am to 4:30pm.

The two offices the LPN will cover are located at:

875 North Hermitage Road

2008 West State Street

Purpose

Provides professional nursing care to office patients under supervision of patient care providers.

Responsibilities

• Draw blood.
• Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).
• Administer medications including oral, SQ, IM and IV drip.
• Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments.
• Assess patient's general condition and take vital signs and weight.
• Comply with all policies and procedures.
• Perform IV therapy under direction of Registered Nurse.
• Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.
• Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
• Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.

Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing. One year clinical experience preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances

CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
• Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
• Act 33 with renewal
• Act 34 with renewal
• Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
• Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
