Job summary

Akron Children's is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for full-time, onsite care in Ohio. The role supports RN-directed patient care, with a 40-hour workweek and a variable day schedule. A $2,000 taxable sign-on bonus is available.

The ideal candidate has LPN licensure in Ohio and BLS, plus 1 year of relevant experience. The LPN will administer medications, collect data, educate families, document care, and collaborate with the care team to ensure safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of licensed practical nursing.
• Current, valid LPN license in the state of Ohio.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Minimum one year of relevant experience preferred.
• No supervisory experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provide age-appropriate nursing care under the supervision of an RN or designated provider, applying basic knowledge of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to meet the needs of individuals and groups.
• Collect and monitor patient data, including packaging and obtaining specimens and labs, contributing to assessments and promptly communicating abnormal findings or changes in condition to the appropriate provider.
• Develop and implement patient care and discharge plans under RN direction, deliver nursing care and treatments as ordered, and assist with personal care and activities of daily living to maintain hygiene and nutrition.
• Safely administer prescribed medications, injections, and treatments while monitoring for adverse reactions, and ensure all providers orders are followed for patient treatment.
• Provide education to patients, families, and caregivers regarding health, treatments, and self-care.
• Document all aspects of patient care in accordance with hospital policies and nursing care standards.
• Adhere to regulatory standards and ACH policies, maintain a safe and clean environment, and report safety concerns as appropriate.
• Work collaboratively as a member of the patient care team, engage in ongoing education and professional development, and perform additional duties to support efficient operations and quality patient care.

• Previous experience in healthcare, home care, or physician office settings preferred.

Education and Experience

• Education: Graduate from an accredited school of licensed practical nursing.
• Licensure: Current, valid LPN license in the state of Ohio.
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Additional certifications (e.g., PEARS, PALS, ACLS, TNCC, NRP) may be required based on assignment or department/unit.
• Years of relevant experience: Minimum one (1) year of relevant experience is preferred.
• Years of supervisory experience: none.
