Job summary

ConvenientMD in Saco, Maine, seeks a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our urgent care team. You will deliver hands-on patient care, triage, and assist providers in fast-paced settings while maintaining accurate medical records.

You will perform diagnostic procedures, point-of-care testing, ECGs, wound care, immunizations, and medication administration, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and state/federal regulations.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with active state license (Maine/NH).
• BLS certification required by AHA/Red Cross (no CPR/ACLS online).
• Experience placing and monitoring IVs preferred, IV certification in ME/NH required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient exams and triage, prepare equipment and documentation.
• Perform diagnostic/testing procedures (vision, hearing, drug screens, breath alcohol, spirometry).
• Conduct point-of-care testing (strep, flu, RSV, SARS-CoV-2, glucose, lipid panel, urinalysis).
• Provide ECGs, AED use, nebulizer treatments, oxygen administration.
• Deliver wound care, immunizations, and medication administration.
• Maintain electronic medical records and monitor patient condition changes.
• Ensure instruments/equipment are cleaned, sterilized, stocked, and workspace is organized.
• Collaborate with providers and train new staff.

Your Impact

• Patient Care & Triage:
  • Assist with patient exams, ensuring all necessary equipment and documentation are prepared, while supporting providers during testing and procedures.
• Clinical Procedures:
  • Perform diagnostic and testing procedures, including vision, hearing, drug screens, breath alcohol testing, spirometry, and more.
  • Execute point-of-care testing such as strep, flu, RSV, SARS-CoV-2, glucose, lipid panel, and urinalysis.
  • Provide cardiac and airway management, including ECGs, AED use, nebulizer treatments, and oxygen administration.
  • Deliver wound care assessments, immunizations, and medication administration per federal and state regulations.
• Patient Engagement & Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records, documenting patient histories and treatment details.
  • Observe and report changes in patients' conditions, taking necessary action as needed.
• Clinic Operations:
  • Ensure medical instruments and equipment are clean, sterilized, and maintained per organizational policies.
  • Maintain a stocked and sterile workspace, supporting smooth clinic operations.
• Collaboration with Clinical Team:
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with providers and other healthcare professionals to relay patient information and updates.
  • Welcome and support the training of new team clinic team members.

Required Availability

• Must be able to work12-hour shifts in consecutive and or non-consecutive days:
  • For full-time: Must be able to work three (3) 12-hour shifts a week with at leastfour (4)shifts a month on a Saturday or Sunday.
  • For part-time: Must be able to worktwo(2) 12-hour shifts per week with at least two (2) shifts a month on a Saturday or Sunday.
  • For per diem: Must be able to workfour(4)12-hour shiftsper month, ideally working one (1) shift each week.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends,holidays.
• If needed, mustbe able to work at a minimum of three (3) otherConvenientMDlocations within a one (1) hour travel distance from your primary clinic.
• Required to travel for training shifts which may occur outside of your primary clinic within a one (1) hour commute.

Who You Are

• Education: High school diploma or GED required .
• Certification and demonstrated prior experience: State l icensed practical nurse (LPN) with prior experience placing and monitoring IVs . For Maine and New H ampshire only, must be IV certified.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification. We do not accept CPR, ACLS certifications, or online only classes.

• 1-2 years of patient triage experience in an urgent care or emergency department preferred.
