Job summary

Avera Health in Sioux Falls, SD, seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to deliver professional nursing care under the provider's supervision. This on-site role offers a day shift with a work-from-home option after 6 months on site, provided you remain within 150 miles of Sioux Falls.

You will administer medications, coordinate patient care, prepare equipment, greet patients, and document in the chart while maintaining a clean, well-equipped exam area.

Location: Avera McKennan Hospital Worker Type: Regular Work Shift: Day Shift (United States of America) Pay Range: The pay range for this position is listed below. Actual pay rate dependent upon experience. $19.50 - $31.50

Position Highlights

• Varied Shifts, Monday-Friday, 7:00am-5:00pm; 72hrs/2wks
• Work from home option after working onsite for 6 months or more after orientation is completed. Must be within 150 miles of Sioux Falls, SD or less.

Brief Overview

Provides for the delivery of professional nursing care under the direction of the provider.

What you will do

• Performs general nursing care to patients.
• Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
• Coordinates the patient care activities for the clinic.
• Prepares equipment and assists provider during procedures, treatments, examinations, and testing of patients.
• Observes, records, and reports patient’s condition and reactions to drugs and treatments to provider.
• Oversees appointment scheduling and ensures preferences are given to patients in emergency situations.
• Maintains timely flow of patients.
• Greets patients and prepares them for physical examination.
• Screens patients for appropriate information including obtaining the health history, and taking vitals.
• Documents obtained information in patient chart.
• Instructs patient in collection of samples and tests.
• Responds to patient phone calls in a timely manner with appropriate input from the physician.
• Educates patients and families about diagnostic process, medications, nutrition, and maintenance of health and wellness.
• Suggests solutions to patient care crisis problems and complaints.
• Maintains exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials.
• Ensures cleanliness.
• Prepares list of medical supplies needed.
• Assures appropriate labeling of pathology specimens according to lab protocol as needed.
• Performs quality control and maintains records on all lab testing.
