Job summary

Watercrest Richmond is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for PRN shifts to join our Resident Care team. You will provide direct and indirect resident care in partnership with the Wellness Director and Nursing staff.

The role requires an LPN license (or RN) and at least one year of experience in senior living; you will contribute to medication management, care plans, and safe, compassionate service.

Qualifications

• LPN (licensed practical nurse) or RN license required.
• Minimum one year in senior living, assisted living, or memory care.
• Ability to communicate warmly and effectively.
• Familiarity with FHA/ADA guidelines.
• Ability to work under stress and emergencies.

Responsibilities

Watercrest Richmond is now hiring for a Wellness Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse! Bring your quality skillset and bedside manner to the table as you work in partnership with the Resident Care team. Together, you will provide direct and indirect care to residents in a sensitive, professional, and effective manner.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Servant Leadership directs all aspects of decision making
• Serves as the “Charge Nurse for assigned shift ensuring residents are well cared for
• Serve as the “Charge Nurse” in the absence of the Executive Director and Resident Wellness Director/Director of Nursing
• Contributes to all aspects of medication management, including but not limited to; orders, administration, storage, documentation and as mandated by the State Regulations and Guidelines as well as Company policy and procedure
• Assures resident rooms and common areas are clean and safe at all times
• Assure that all resident care specialists are familiar with the residents’ individual conditions and are trained to provide the resident services in an effective, professional and sensitive manner
• Assist the residents with their self-medication or administration of medications
• Responsible Limited Nursing license daily recommendations and documentation (if applicable)
• Implements plans of care recommended by the Resident Wellness Director/Director of Nursing
• Implements change in condition plans
• Provides accurate and timely documentation of all care provided to residents
• Assembles and maintains resident charting and accurately maintains all records
• Completes accident and incident reports as required
• Maintains relationships with residents, family members and responsible parties
• Be prepared for and manage emergency situations including disasters, fire and other emergencies
• Ensures adequate and appropriately trained resident care specialists are available for each shift within company and state guidelines
• Must be in company uniform and resident ready at all times

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, team members, residents, family members, vendors, referral sources and outside contacts
• Able to make independent decisions
• Must be able to communicate in a warm, friendly and caring manner
• Must be familiar with and adhere to guidelines related to the Fair Housing Act (FHA) and the American with Disabilities Act (ADA)
• Must possess a passion to work with and around senior citizens
• Knowledge of customer service principles and practices

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) or RN (Registered Nurse) license

EXPERIENCE PREFERENCES:

• Minimum One (1) year in the senior living, Assisted Living, Memory Care environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position:
• Able to stand or walk 75% of the day
• Able to concentrate with frequent interruptions
• Able to work under stress and in emergency situations
• Able to work under conditions that require sitting, standing, walking, reaching, pulling, pushing, and grasping
• Able to talk and hear effectively in order to convey instructions and information to residents and team members
• Occasionally lift/carry up to 50 pounds

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE / PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

• Work in all areas of the community
• Subject to reactions from dust, disinfectants and cleaning chemicals and may be exposed to infectious waste, diseases and other conditions
• Use personal protective equipment and supplies when needed to prevent burns, falls, and infection
• Personal protective equipment includes infection control kit, rubber gloves, masks and non-slip shoes
